Tree Swing {Family Life Project 52}

First of all, every house should have a good tree.

Second of all, that good tree should have a swing.

I have wanted a swing for our majestic Horse Chestnut Tree since the day we moved in.  I’m pretty picky about aesthetic on the homefront, so it took me quite a while before I found the perfect one from Peg and Awl on Etsy.

The next problem was figuring out how to put it up when the closest branch was 30 feet above ground :)

We had some professional tree pruners come to prune our bushes and trees this week and I was inspired to ask if they could put up our swing that I’ve had sitting in my closet for six months…

If you wondered if professional tree climbers exist… they do. The guy harnessed himself in, tossed a rope thirty feet in the air and lassoed a branch. It took him about 30 seconds to pull and walk himself up the tree. Amazing.

Best of all… it’s totally wide enough to hold two people and strong enough to hold adults.  I haven’t laughed and soared with glee through the air like that in 25 years!

Best stress relief of the whole year.

Prelude to Halloween {Family Life Project 52}

Little Crocodile Hunter To prepare for an upcoming Studio 5 episode on Halloween pictures, we had some fun playing in our random costumes.  As always, I stand by my passionate theory that Halloween pictures should be taken BEFORE Halloween.  Not only do you stretch out the play with costumes, but you take the stress out of aContinue Reading

Don’t see the embedded video? Click HERE. Buzzy has an endless supply of energy. After several months of frustration in trying to get him to  settle down to go to sleep at night, we finally started the tradition of jumping on the trampoline after dinner. Every night. It has worked like a charm. We wearContinue Reading

The Finish Line {Family Life Project 52}

  I’ve attended a few inspiring races this year for people in my family.  I’m always struck by the role that friends and family support plays in these achievements. Sometimes, more than the glory of finishing, is the glory of celebrating reunions and achievements with those that love you most.   Congratulations to Ben forContinue Reading

Scaling New Heights {Family Life Project 52}

“Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently. ” -Henry Ford It feels so great to finally start posting this project again! My images are far off from the themes I was supposed to be following, but that isn’t the real point of the project anyway. If you’ve fallen behind inContinue Reading

Stress & Photography [Family Life Project]

I don’t take pictures when I’m stressed. My creativity sort of turns off and the usual appeal photography holds for me turns into a deep drudgery and sense of obligation. I guess I’m weird like that. We recently returned from an adventurous family vacation to North Carolina, Tennessee, and Kentucky.  It was exciting to see familyContinue Reading

This basically means that he’s super cute, but we gotta whole lotta personality to deal with. Heaven help Ben.Continue Reading
